Vacancy for a Mechanical Product Engineer in the province of Gelderland (region Amersfoort – Apeldoorn – Utrecht – Arnhem – Harderwijk). In this unique role, you will work on the safety solutions of the future. You'll be responsible for translating in-house innovations into customer-specific applications. This includes designing plastic components that meet the stringent requirements of international automotive OEMs. You will gain experience in high-level, professional engineering and contribute to delivering integrated systems that improve modern road safety.
To support growth, we are hiring an additional Mechanical Product Engineer. The company has secured major contracts with leading OEM manufacturers, requiring extra engineering capacity to translate customer-specific designs into detailed products. These are multi-year projects due to the complex rollout and integration timelines involved. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary project team and take responsibility for the mechanical design of components using Inventor 3D models. You will work according to a structured development process (APQP), and when needed, conduct risk analyses (D/PFMEA) and study materials, their properties, and manufacturing principles. These systems must perform reliably outdoors across a wide range of global conditions — from -20°C to +80°C, intense sunlight, electromagnetic interference, salt, sand, and other challenging exposures.
Your key tasks and responsibilities include:
✓ Ensuring timely and complete development of 3D-CAD (Inventor / NX) designs, including component and full product adaptations.
✓ Collaborating within project teams and across disciplines to achieve optimal results, with support from project managers.
✓ Investigating material properties and consulting with purchasing and suppliers, taking into account injection moulding requirements and design constraints.
✓ Completing all technical data and ensuring proper documentation of drawings and designs.
✓ Working closely with colleagues from Test Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality Control, and Quality Engineering.
This position gives you the opportunity to make a real impact throughout the entire product development process — from concept to OEM delivery. Process improvement and structure are actively encouraged, and you’ll be given the freedom to contribute meaningfully.
✓ Competitive salary depending on your experience and background: €3.500,- to €5.800,- gross per month.
✓ Comprehensive secondary benefits under the Metalektro collective labour agreement (27 vacation days + 13 additional leave days).
✓ Flexible starting hours (between 07:00 and 09:00).
✓ A 4-day workweek (8 hours per day) is negotiable.
✓ Office location is easily accessible by car, situated directly next to the highway.
✓ A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Product Design, or a related field.
✓ Several years of relevant experience in precision engineering or industrial product development.
✓ Experience from internships or jobs designing plastic components or fine mechanical assembly, with an understanding of related production processes.
✓ Skilled in detailed 3D-CAD modelling (Inventor / NX) — this is your core responsibility alongside teamwork in a project setting.
✓ A flexible mindset. Due to the project-based nature of the work, the workload varies — you remain calm under pressure and know how to set priorities. When things are quieter, you take initiative to help colleagues or improve internal processes.
Dutch is not required for this position, however, you do need to live in the mentioned area and have a valid dutch work permit.
